- (2/23/1863 Tettenweis- 8/30/1928 Tetschen) (Germany)Painter, graphic artist, sculptor, architect, and art professor. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. Best known for his ornate style, use of mythology, and portraits. It was the world of satyrs and nymphs, as well as stories from the Bible, that inspired his sexual work, such as "Centaur couple" and "Salome."
